There are some basic instructions here: http://dev.plogger.org/wiki/TranslatingPlogger

The PO file is here http://dev.plogger.org/browser/translations/fr/fr.po but it needs to be compiled into a MO file before it can be used. I haven't had time to try compiling it, so if anyone gets around to doing it please send me the compiled binary so I can put it up for download.

I have compiled the .mo file. I just verified it looks good in the admin section but I haven't verified the translation. It looks good.

I try to upload it here but there is an error message: "An error occured while creating a new attachment folder. Check your upload path permissions". I chmod 777 the file, but nothing.
The tickets system in trac is closed for spam reason. The duffduff.dyndns.org doesn't work...

I would like you make this file available for other users in the trac browser - http://dev.plogger.org/browser/translations/fr. How can I transmit it?

Now I would like to translate the public area in french. Could you tell me how to do it?

    Thanks

The .mo file does not seem to do the trick entirely.

I have followed the instructions and have translated the en-us file into danish to the best of my ability, but I still got some quite mixed up responses, so I started to look into the code, and have managed to translate the various php-files and it seems that now I have a quite proper working version which "talks" danish.

The utf-8 character set was a killer, as danish has 28 letters including æ (ae), ø (oe) and å (aa), but this is now resolved (I think ;o)

You are welcome to check on www.ks-f.dk/Ploggerb3/KS_Plogger.php This page is not yet published to the users of www.ks-f.dk (It is the site of the yachting club Kerteminde Sejlklub).

As I understand it - if you want a "true" danish Plogger it will require a da.mo file plus translated php-files, making a whole packet necessary.

If the Plogger organization should want it, I will happily provide all translated files for you to scrutinise and hopefully publish, once deemed ok.

BTW: Plogger is VERY easy to install, work with and use, however there are a few mishaps. It would seem that a set of pictures (an album) may not exceed 12MB. This is not very well communicated. I also experience that for some reason if I press the button "Show detail", it shifts from danish to english and changes css. This I have not yet resolved.

I was added as a user to the SVN repository some days ago after changing all the necessary files for translation, so that the entire gallery can be translated. I have also translated the entire gallery to danish, at the same time you wrote the above I was committing everything to the gallery, sorry I didn't get it done a little sooner ;-)

Anyway, to translate everything, not just the admin, you need to copy new some new files from the repository, the needed files are at: http://dev.plogger.org/changeset/491.

If you want to translate the entire site to a new language, or update one of the existing translations, you need the new plogger.pot file. You can use it to create a new .po/.mo or to update an existing .po.

I have also noted the show details error, the javascript needs to be recoded a bit, since it changes the text, I will be correcting that in the near future.

There is no 12 MB limit, I have albums several hundred megabytes large at my family gallery. Maybe it is because there is a default upload limit on your server set at 12 MB. You can probably change this by putting a file named ".htaccess" in the admin folder with this content: php_value upload_max_filesize 500M

    Hi Kasper

That sounds very good. I am curious to see whether I have translated the various words and phrases the same way as you ;o)

I try your suggestion regarding the 12M limit I have experienced, and let the forum know the result.

i have compiled the french version using poedit on windows !
and this is the address of my fr.mo file :

    http://photos-djerba.freehostia.com/images/plog-translations/fr.mo

Download it using a download manager like (IDM, download accelerator...)

C'est pas difficile à faire en utilisant poedit :-)

Could you please mail me or link to the new .po so that I can add both the .po and .mo to the repository?

PS. For everyone else: The latest translations for different languages are located at http://dev.plogger.org/browser/translations

PPS. For all coming translators and translations, please always put both the .po and .mo up for download, we can all convert a .po to a .mo - but we cant easily go the the other way.

The fully translated french translation is now available from SVN.

I would also like to inform all interested translators about the new translators mailing list which everyone is most welcome to join.

The translation guidelines now include easy to follow guides for Steps to translate Plogger to your language, Steps to update an existing translation with new words and Steps to create a new regional version based on an existing translation.

They are all very end user friendly, and it's easily done for a novice on either Windows, Mac OS X or Linux. A translation can be done in just 1 hour!
