    Hello,

Plogger use instead of spaces, in category/gallery name/photo name/etc...

    _ instead of spaces...

It is possible to make plogger use "-" instead of space...

I want to do this because any seo guide tell to preferr "-" compared to "_".

    Thank you.

    cmedia,

This is fixed in the current code that is soon to be released. It will update all of your old files and rename them during the upgrade to use "-" instead of "_". Hope that works out for you because it's a little complicated to hack the code to get it to work.

Yes, old themes / templates will work with the new version except that you will have to add one line of code for the comment section to work (if you are using comments). The 'Theme' tab in the Admin section will prompt you for the missing comment code if your theme does not have it. I would recommend that if you made changes to one of the 3 themes included with Plogger, that you rename it something else (rename the folder and update the information in the meta.php file). This will make sure that your old file does not get written over during an upgrade.

If you want to try out the latest code, you can always download it from here (just scroll to the bottom and click the "Zip Archive" link and follow the ReadMe instructions). We have tried to make it a simple upgrade process as well as simplify the install process, so try it out.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Will it be an option? What happens to links to existing picture URLS after upgrading? Will the code be backwards compatible to know that a link with "_" should look for the new link with "-" ?

Yes, it changes the database. If you want to be able to go back, make a backup of your Plogger installation directory and an SQL dump of your existing database before upgrading. Then if you don't like it for some reason, you can go back.

Yes, the URLs are updated automatically because the entire backend structure has changed quite a bit to make it easier to upgrade from this point on. Currently, there is not the code to make it backward compatible either. Do you have a lot of hard-coded links from elsewhere on your site to specific albums? I guess we could look into making an option during upgrade to update the URLs or not.

yes, I have a Wordpress site with several posts spanning the last 7 years or so with links to albums/photos for the related post. I just spent the last week going through the old posts and converting the links from my old Coppermine installation to my new Plogger installation :(

I would say it is about 50 posts, so it isn't a HUGE deal if I need to re-edit them and really I think all of them were done before I setup permalinks on Plogger so they should be all relative to the album ID....

    peeps,

It looks like you have the non-cruft free URLs linked to (based on ID), so it should work just fine. Did you still want me to look into allowing an option to skip the path update during upgrade?

I think that would be up to other users...as long as I know that is something I will have to deal with when upgrading, that is fine...I'll make changes on my end.
