    Happy New Year

For a long period I was busy at work and I was building alone a big web portal. I'm back to this forum.

    And I will bring a gift :-)

As promised for kasper and for the Plogger community, I just finished my full SEO MOD.

With some new features, Plogger would be the best Search Engine Optimized Gallery.

I'll be back as soon as possible with a detailed and commented MOD

    Sincerly

Really sorry for my late answer :-(

I tried to post a tutorial about some seo changes that I made, but I found it boaring with Plogger different versions :-(

So I'm looking for an Admin or a Plogger moderator in order to cooperate with me by email to integrate it to new versions because I didn't made any upgrades !

The result is excellent ! And the MOD is not boaring :-)

For curious you can see some nice URL's, nice titles, descriptions and keywords... on my new photo gallery : Djerba Photos

    bilel,

You can email me at sidtheduck SPLAT gmail DOT com if you want to discuss with me. It would be nice to see what you altered because most of what you are describing is already included in the latest release of Plogger.

Nice URLs: You URLs are nicer than the beta3 version of Plogger, but the latest code also has many of the same modifications. The latest code has dashes (-) instead of underscores (_) and removes the filename extension from the end of pictures and adds a trailing slash (for example "http://yoursite.com/collection-name/album-name/picture-name/"). It looks like yours is the same, except the picture level ends in .html and you have the caption and filename both in the URL. The current Plogger code also has the functionality of using the caption as the URL, but hasn't quite been implemented as to how you specify the caption or the filename in the Options yet (I would hope this would be a choice of the user whether they wanted to use the filename or the image name).

Nice Titles: Again, I was just finishing coding a new way of using the title function that can be customized per theme. It will let you reorder the Plogger levels as you see fit and to specify the separator. It looks like you have just reversed the whole thing (picture - album - collection), which you will be able to do with the updated code.

Descriptions and Keywords: The current codebase has support for automatically generated description and keyword metatags (which is what it looks like you are doing also). The current code uses descriptions and keywords from the collection or album descriptions and, at the picture level, uses the description as the description tag and the caption as the keywords.

It also looks like you have some social bookmarking link tags at the picture level which the current codebase does not. However, it could be easily included in a theme (especially since many people use more social bookmarking sites than the 4 you have listed). Just thought I should let you know the changes that have been occurring since your last visit here. We are working hard to include suggestions and enhancements by people on the forums and we do recognize that SEO is a priority for many people.

    Hi sidtheduck :-)

Are these upgrades you are talking about included in the new version of Plogger ? (I don't think so :-( )

Why we don't apply changes on downloadable version ?

I know my functions are not generalized ;-)

About dashscores : It's only on albums level because I didn't made changes on this part ;-)
Picture's URLs are well done but I didn't applied lowercase because I'm risking a late index update on Google ;-)

As a seo consultant, I know what should be done on Plogger :-)

And there other details that I didn't mentioned !

I'll prepare a Blog for these changes :-)

    Ok I'll mail you

Yes, these will be in the newest release of Plogger (not yet released for public download). We are getting close to posting the next release for public, but are making sure we have all the bugs ironed out. If you wanted to test out the code that will be very similar to the final release, you can download it here. There have been a lot of changes to the code since the beta3 release, so you may be surprised.

The newest Plogger code uses dashes on all levels (albums included). I'm not sure what you mean about the lowercase Picture URLs, but the current Plogger version does use lowercase URLs at all levels.

It would be great to hear more ideas of yours and have you work with the SVN repository to upload patches for testing. You can also create tickets (for features / enhancements as well as bugs) by following the instructions here.

It would be nice to what else you have, it may already be in the current code! If not, we would be happy to look at your improvements and add it to the code. Like I said, there have been quite a few changes since beta3, so you may be surprised what is included.
