first thing first, sorry for my broken english... I'm from Malaysia..

I actually made a gallery on my web [named plogger ], but after I realize the theme I made was SU*K, I uploaded another plogger [named showcase] to make a new one.. but when I tried to delete the ol'one [plogger], I was alerted by my ftp client that some of the folder cannot be deleted.. I've tried to chmod it to 777 but unfortunately folder "plogger_test_collection" and "plogger_test_album" on the image folder can't be chmoded... [Please guys, help me coz the old one annoyed me so much.. hehe.. ]

does this issue related to my database coz i haven't delete the old one coz I was afraid that it would affect my new gallery..

    Hello dean -

The reason you can't delete those folders inside the images folder has to do with server permissions - the program (Plogger) 'owns' those folders, and you won't be able to delete them using FTP. If you are on a webhost that uses Cpanel, I would suggest logging in and going to the File Manager. When there, navigate to the old Plogger install and locate the images folder, then use the File Manager to try and delete the images folder. If you are still unable to delete the images folder, then you will need to contact your webhost and have them delete it for you.

With regard to your new gallery (showcase), as long as you installed that using a new database, you should be able to delete the old database without any issues. Just for safety's sake, do a database backup of the new database you used when installing the showcase gallery and save it to your computer. That way, if anything did go wrong, you could always restore the database from the backup.

it's not working at all.. though i've chmod the directory on ftp, it's still cannot be deleted.. and i've download it to my pc, then i changed the attributes from read only to default.. but it's still the same.. it does can be deleted, but... *sigh..

maybe i should ask my hoster to delete it manually.. haha.. thanks for the help.. aiya~

    Dean -

As I said before, the reason you can't delete those folders inside the images folder has to do with Apache server permissions - Plogger 'owns' those folders, and you won't be able to delete them using FTP - chmod the directory and/or changing the attributes to read-only have no affect on the Apache server permissions with regard to ownership of the files. You need to contact your webhost and have them delete the old images folder for you.

Were you able to delete the old database?
