    http://www.mangoro.co.uk/index.php

    I discovered Plogger and have found it amazingly simple to set up my online portfolio site with very little php knowledge. In contrast to a lot of people's sites I have actually removed some functionality for my purposes as this will be somewhere for me to send prospective clients and I don't feel the need for comment functionality and wanted to keep everything as simple as possible.

    I did have fun fiddling some (probably not very good) php to find out the current collection name regardless of the level and create a class to control via css the menu highlighting and the page title.

    You'll be the first people looking at the site as it's still in develoment so comments very welcome! http://www.mangoro.co.uk/index.php

    Very nice, Plogger is perfect for your site =) The integration is seamless, illustrations look great, and I like how you created a static menu on the side which links into your Plogger gallery.

    I would suggest using the cruft-free URL's option for your gallery, it would make your links look much nicer. For example, instead of having http://www.mangoro.co.uk/index.php?level=collection&id=2 be the link you send to prospective clients to view your illustrations, you could send them http://www.mangoro.co.uk/illustrations/. Easier to remember and looks much cleaner.

    If you have mod_rewrite setup on your host (you most likely do), enabling this should be as easy as checking "use cruft free URL's" in your Plogger options and hitting save. You would need to manually update your three sidebar links as well, but that would require minimal effort.

    Thank you for your comments and the tips. I really like the sound of using the cruft free urls, I tried this out but came across a problem I wondered if you could tell me where I'm going wrong?

    It worked fine when navigating into a collection (http://www.mangoro.co.uk/illustrations for example) but as soon as I navigated down as far as a gallery all css styling was lost, would I need to change the link to the css files?

    You probably just need to make your stylesheet link absolute, instead of relative. What you have now is...

    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/general.css" />

    You can see that with cruft free URL's, the browser is going to be looking at your current URL + the path to the stylesheet. If you are using a relative path like "css/general.css" then the stylesheet link will be different on everypage. Try changing it to...

    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/css/general.css" />

    Notice the leading slash before CSS. This tells the browser to look for the CSS file relative to the root of your website.

    Silly me, I should have been able to figure that out.

    What can I say, thank you again for being so helpful and for developing an amazing gallery system...
